Comparison of research status of electric hoverboard at home and abroad

As early as 1985, Professor Yoshio Yamato of Japan put forward a two-wheel electric hoverboard model. But at that time, the two-wheel electric car model he proposed could only move in a straight line.

At the beginning of the 21st century, with the continuous research of the two-wheel electric hoverbaord in various countries, the project has become one of the research hotspots of the global robot control technology. The United States, Japan, Switzerland and France have done well in this regard. [1]

In 2001, Dean Kamen, a famous American scientist, invented a convenient and fast new type of transportation vehicle – the two-wheel electric hoverboard ”Segway”.

After that, Segway was also favored by the US military, and it began to move from civilian to military.

In 2002, Felix of the Swiss Federal University of Technology developed a two-wheeled self-balancing robot Joey that can be remotely controlled with a remote controller. Its speed can reach 1.5m/s at the fastest. In our later project production, we also adopted this remote control technology, using nRF2401 for remote control. In the open area, the remote control can be as far as 50 meters. [1]

In 2003, Anderson and others of the United States developed an extraordinary two-wheel electric hoverboard, which can not only walk on flat roads, but also adapt to rugged mountain roads. This invention was rated as the best robot of the season by NASA in May 2003.

In 2005, Murata of Japan released the “muRata boy” bicycle robot, which made a qualitative leap this time. Because of its technological breakthrough, it was rated as one of the best inventions of the year by Time magazine of the United States in 2006. At the same time, it has been highly concerned by the whole world. The gyroscope used in this project is ENC-03MB of Murata, Japan. [1]

The domestic research on two-wheel electric hoverboard is in its infancy, mainly including Tsinghua University, Northwest Polytechnic University, Hunan University, Leshan Normal University and other major universities. At present, the national college student smart car competition led by Tsinghua University is based on the research of two-wheel electric hoverboard. This project has received strong support from Freescale Semiconductor and the Ministry of Education.
